Have you ever been shopping and loved an item so much but you didn’t like the finish or the color of the item, but you still had to have it? Well, I purchased these candle sticks at Ross a few years ago, got them home and just put them in a closet and never used them. Then one day I needed some more volume to my Christmas table décor so out they came and a new vision came to life.

Let’s Begin…
Supplies used:
- Acrylic Paints:
- Barn (18082) Martha Stewart Home Décor Eggshell Finish Paint
- Wedding Cake (33519) Martha Stewart Vintage Décor Matte Chalk Finish Paint
- Walnut Stain Distress Ink by Tim Holtz
- DuraClear Satin Varnish by DecoArt Americana
Other supplies needed:
- Candle sticks
- Paint brushes
- Sponge Dauber
First wipe off the candle sticks to make sure they are free from dirt or debris. Next apply 2 coats of the main base color (Barn), allowing each coat to dry in-between applications.

Next, using a dry brush technique lightly apply the (Wedding Cake) color for definition. Note: When applying a dry brush painting technique make sure to wipe off most of the excess paint to achieve a very light finish.

Right candle stick still is just the base coat of paint.
Once dry use the Walnut stain ink pad to highlight all the edges and curves; you can apply this multiple times to achieve the right amount of darkness and highlights that you desire.

Once everything has dried, use a clear paint sealer, and allow that to dry before use.

Finally, enjoy your new refinished candle sticks.
